A Philadelphia Wedding Photography Timeline

A relaxed timeline is the quiet secret behind good wedding photographs. This is a simple structure to adapt, with your venue, ceremony time and sunset in mind.

  1. Getting ready, 1.5 to 2 hours before the ceremony: details, attire and quiet moments with family.
  2. First look and couple portraits, 1 to 1.5 hours: a private moment together before the day speeds up.
  3. Wedding party and family portraits, 30 to 45 minutes: share a short list of must-have groupings.
  4. Ceremony: as planned, with a few minutes of buffer on either side.
  5. Cocktail hour: candid moments with guests while we step away with you if you wish.
  6. Golden hour portraits, 10 to 20 minutes before sunset: a short break for the best light of the day.
  7. Reception: entrances, toasts, cake and dancing.

A few tips

Build in buffer time, share your family photo list in advance, and check the sunset time for your date. If your ceremony is late in the day, a first look keeps portraits in good light.
